SpectraLink and Commtech Collaborate on Messaging Integration
Complete and total technology integration just got a step closer for businesses
utilizing PABX / WiFi solutions and a mobile workforce.
SpectraLink, makers of WiFi cordless handset technology and CommtechWireless,
message solution providers, have recently collaborated on the creation of bundled,
feature-rich solutions.
The collaboration between the two companies has resulted in the integration of
durable SpectraLink handsets and the WiFi format with the meticulously-designed
plug & play Fusion Series modules from CommtechWireless.
The first of four new solutions, the Fusion Series Alarm Dispatch Module (ADM) now
has available a dedicated SpectraLink interface that allows the messages to be sent
to handsets in the event of an alarm. Up to 16 wired inputs can be programmed to
send an alert to pre-defined SpectraLink recipients during a designated event.
With the Central Control Module (CCM) in the Fusion Series, CommtechWireless and
SpectraLink offer simultaneous broadcast messages to all registered handsets. Free
internal text messages can be sent over the LAN/WAN via the CCM and out to
SpectraLink handsets. The central database of the Fusion Series allows for common,
or “cannedâ€, messages as well as a sent and received audit trail.
In another new offering, email can be sent to SpectraLink handsets using the CCM.
The SMTP interface available for the CCM allows every SpectraLink handset on the
system to be assigned an email address. Messages sent in the email format are then
received on the relevant handset as a text message.
Finally, the SpectraLink and Fusion Cellular Messaging Module (CMM) and CCM
bundle brings the power of SMS messaging to cordless handsets. Mobile phone users
can send an SMS to the CCM which then sends it to SpectraLink handsets or to other
mobile phones via the inbuilt GSM modem of the CMM.
John Jordan of CommtechWireless reports that the two technologies are so in tune,
they complement each other.
“When we designed the Fusion Series, we were thinking about cordless handsets but
only in a generic way. Now that the product is complete, it turns out that
SpectraLink’s great systems are a perfect match for what it can achieve. One
technology adds features to the other. It’s the perfect compliment.â€
The companies continue to work closely on building new solutions and hope to
provide further additions to the feature set in the coming months.
