TANDBERG MCU's now deliver highest capacity multipoint

Tandberg today announced a new software release for its award-winning line of Tandberg Multipoint Control Units (MCUs), delivering unprecedented scale and enhanced desktop video conferencing capabilities.
This release makes it even easier for organizations to visually connect employees, customers, and suppliers through video conferencing solutions.

Tandberg - the leading provider of telepresence technology, high-definition videoconferencing and mobile video products and services - has dual headquarters in New York and Norway, and its Middle East head office in Dubai. The company designs, develops and markets systems and software for video, voice and data for application across all industries.

'The current demand for video must also be met with high-quality, scalable, and easily managed infrastructure to ensure that organizations can experience all of the advantages of enterprise wide video deployment,

said David Holloway, Senior Vice President of Network Products Group, Tandberg.

'We've addressed this need with Tandberg MCUs by continuing to develop innovative ways to deliver industry-leading infrastructure support and strengthen the Tandberg Total Solution. Through this technology we are providing a superior video experience for end users and IT professionals alike.

MaxSDTM, newly developed for the Tandberg MSE 8000 series, brings unprecedented capacity and flexibility to an organization's video conferencing capabilities by increasing the capacity of a single MSE 8000 chassis from 360 to 720 concurrent SD (standard definition 448p) video calls. This enhancement enables very large video conferences, with capacity for up to 80 SD or 20 HD (720p) fully transcoded, continuous presence (CP) connections per blade.

Moreover, the new Tandberg MCU ConferenceMeTM feature extends multipoint video conferencing to the desktop by enabling up to 12 simultaneous users to easily join any conference and collaborate face-to-face from their PC via an email invitation with a URL link. Users simply click the link and join a video conference no matter where they are located, with features such as multiple layouts, continuous presence and content sharing functionality, all without compromising on video quality.

'As organizations continue to embrace video communications, there need to be simplified ways to provide access to more people and enable support for larger conferences,' said Ira Weinstein, analyst and partner at independent analyst firm Wainhouse Research. 'Tandberg's MaxSD gives customers the flexibility to expand their video bridging capacity as needed and without having to purchase and install additional hardware.

Furthermore, ConferenceMe allows participants outside the enterprise network to participate in video conferences. Such advanced features, combined with exceptional connectivity, make the Tandberg MCU an excellent choice for organizations seeking to future proof their investments.'

The enhanced MCUs also support Tandberg's unique Multiway capability. Multiway enables multipoint calls to be escalated from an endpoint to the MCU, making it even easier for users to participate in multipoint video conferencing calls.

'BCS Global's ability to scale and provide higher capacity video conferencing options to customers is critical. Tandberg MCUs enable us to offer a more complete solution by extending video communications from the desktop to the board room,' said Dan Tanel, Chief Technical Officer, of BCS Global, a managed service provider.

'We were one of the first users of Tandberg Codian MCU products and continue to use them for the superior quality and innovation we've experienced. We know that as our customers' video requirements expand, the Tandberg line will continue to support our ability to deliver the highest-quality customer experience.
