Tandberg 3rd party e-learning

Postby igravanis » Thu Nov 27, 2008 11:31 pm

Hi all, and thanks for having me! Great place to voice our needs and learn...

No the case I am interested in is this: A friend of mine, a traininer for one of the larger auto makers, is using a Tandberg Content Server to record training material and is seeking to get some e-learning value-added services out of it.
What he needs is to be able to tell for example, at which point during a stream did a student abandon the lesson? How many lessons has a particular student viewed at 100% and so on.

Have you come across something that would help us here? Tandberg's site lists no 'eco-system' partners that would add functionality to their products via 3rd party sw/firmware etc.

Hi,

I dont know that you can do this within any of the content streaming solutions provided by any of the Video Conferencing vendors. You would most likely need to purchase/subscribe to a fully fledged online training service and up load the stored content you have captured from your VC streaming server into the online training service.

There are quite a few of these around try http://www.flextraining.com and just have a google search to see whats available. Clealry you will need to ensure that which ever service you choose can take the content format that you currently have ie: AVI, Quicktime, MPEG !
I tried to call Polycom but apparently it was Revcom day !
